I know this week should be all about tequila and margaritas for cinco de mayo but the other spirits should get some play too! I will preface this with the fact that I am not generally a whiskey drinker. My husband drinks it on the rocks, my mom drinks it neat and my dad drinks it with a splash of water but I do not drink it. None of those are drinks in my opinion. So when this Lemon Drop Mixer came into the game, I thought now this is a cocktail I might be able to get behind. And folks, I certainly can! I have a tendency to drink quite fast which is why the Lemon Drop Martini could definitely get me into some trouble. For me, the whiskey sour is more of a sipping cocktail which is great when your looking for a drink to last a little while. See below for the recipe!

What are your go-to cocktails?

There’s no better way to be welcomed into Spring than with a refreshing drink. While red wine is by go-to during cooler months, a cold cocktail simply can’t be beat as the weather warms up and the days become longer. This drink is so easy to make and doesn’t require loads of ingredients which is always a plus in my book. The lemon drop mixer is the perfect combination of sweet and sour — something that can definitely be a little tricky to find! I never like a drink that’s too sweet so it gets two thumbs up from me! The recipe is right on the back of the bottle but I will include it below so you can see just how easy it is! Warning to my light weight friends out there, you’ll be tempted to guzzle this tasty drink but pace yourself! It’s strong and you don’t even know it! If lemon isn’t your thing, find more great mixers here! I’ve got my eye on the Spicy Margarita mix next!

If you ask me, weekend mornings are meant to be spent on the couch sipping coffee and munching on tasty breakfast treats. It drives my husband nuts but if we have plans in the morning to get out of the house, I make a point to get up extra early just so we can have some couch and coffee time. Since I drink my coffee black, it’s super important that the coffee has good flavor–bold and rich. Stonewall Kitchen’s coffee hits those exact marks. And no morning would be complete without some tasty carbs. Their cornbread mix is the perfect vehicle for some of their delicious jam (the Raspberry Peach Champagne jam is one of my faves). Luckily, the cornbread was super easy to make and didn’t have me slaving away in the kitchen; always a plus on a weekend morning. And, since I have quite the collection of Stonewall Kitchen jam, I was able to sample them all on the cornbread. Cornbread and coffee on the couch on a Sunday morning–doesn’t get any better than that.

Stonewall Kitchen has more to offer than just breakfast essentials. Check out all they have to offer here. Trust me, you won’t regret it!

Food & Drink, Home

I can’t deny that I love Thanksgiving. It’s the start of the holidays and it’s all about food-one of my favorite things! As much as I love Thanksgiving though, Christmas takes the cake (pie if I were choosing). With Christmas comes all the cheery songs, festive decor, and of course lots and lots of treats! My favorite tradition is decorating the house the day after Thanksgiving in order to maximize the Christmas season. My husband and I spent the long weekend putting up our lights, decorating our tree and of course diving head first into this gift basket.  Hot chocolate and gingerbread cookie snacks and pancakes for a lazy Sunday morning breakfast. I highly recommend this Stonewall Kitchen gift basket since it has the tastiest treats! Plus, it’s the perfect gift for anyone on your list, including yourself! The basket comes with everything you need to indulge and enjoy some christmas spirit. Check out all that Stonewall Kitchen has to offer here.

Oh boy, every year I swear by this time I’ll be done Christmas shopping, gifts wrapped and under the tree so that the rest of the season can be spent admiring all the beauty that comes with the season. To say that hasn’t happened would definitely be an understatement.  Don’t worry though, I’ve got the perfect solution for those on your list (and mine)! Gift baskets can seem a bit impersonal at times but with Stonewall Kitchens there are so many options to suit that special person on your list!

My husband and I love to make breakfast so we made the blueberry pancakes over the weekend.  They were so delicious and it was super convenient to have everything we could need to make them from one cute box!  Plus, the blueberry jam is killer!  That’s not the coolest part though, follow the instructions below and you can win one of your own.  Don’t forget to check out the rest of their Holiday Gift Baskets here!

Oh guacamole, I love you so.  I really, truly do!  My husband can vouch for this because it gets made around here at least once a week.  We always have avocados and corn chips stocked just in case the guacamole bug bites!  This is my favorite combination so far and it’s based on the guacamole my dad always made.  He knows best, it starts with the garlic and lemon!

There isn’t much of a “recipe” here which you know if you’ve made guacamole before.  You simply mash the avocado and combine all the ingredients.  I’m usually pretty heavy handed with the tapatio because I like my guacamole to have a nice spice to it.  Add a tasty margarita and you’re ready for a good time!  Do you guys have any good guacamole recipes you swear by?!  Let me know, I’d love to try them!

2 avocados
6 cherry tomatoes, diced
1/8 red onion diced
1 tsp garlic, diced
1 1/2 tsp lemon
salt & pepper to taste
